Submission Guidelines:

One-On-One Private Meetings

with Participating WHW/LAFTV Guest Speakers or Panelists

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

NOTE: The private one-on-one meetings with WHW/LAFTV guest speakers or panelists are a longstanding signature feature of Sandra Lord's events. These unparalleled opportunities are highly sought-after and consideration is given only to "promising" WHW/LAFTV members or event attendees whose submissions impress us the most. Whenever our speakers are able to participate, we always post that notification in our email blasts and on our websites. So, check our official email notices/updates carefully.

WHW & LAFTV MEMBERS GET PRIORITY CONSIDERATION
WHW and LAFTV Members as well as non-members have benefited from these opportunities

MEETING:

Private networking time with a guest speaker or panelist options:

  • Lunch meeting

  • General meeting at speaker/panelist's office or

  • Shadowing speaker/panelist for part of a day

(whichever is most convenient for the guest speaker/panelist. Note: If you want to be considered for the lunch meeting and you meet the criteria, be prepared to host – that is, pick up the tab for lunch.)

SUBMISSION TIPS:

Wanting to meet privately with a panelist or guest speaker
simply to "pick" his or her brain is not reason enough for this opportunity. Our guest speakers and panelists are professionals of the highest caliber with extremely hectic schedules, who want to give their time to someone who is "ready" and/or "proactive." Therefore, this unique opportunity to meet privately with a panelist or a guest speaker is open only to promising writers, producers, directors, actors and others with decent credits, who need -- and are prepared for the "invaluable guidance" to get to the next level.

The private one-on-one meetings are not for beginners, neither are they opportunities for unsolicited pitches. Please bear that in mind when you submit. If you are granted an opportunity to pitch, we'd expect you to adhere to legal protocol and follow standard procedures in that regard.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE!!! You are one of many applicants submitting and vying for the same opportunity — to be considered for the private meeting with the guest speaker or panelist. Your submission DOES NOT GUARANTEE, NOR ENTITLE YOU to, the private meeting. If you feel it is your “right” to receive the meeting, please do not submit.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Send us your:

  • resume

  • photo

  • business card and

  • one page cover detailing your (a) credits (b) why you would like to meet with a guest speaker or particular panelist -- if we have a panel, you MUST SPECIFY the person for whom you'd like to be considered (if you have more than one, please identify in order of preference AND state why for each person) and (c) why you feel you are the best candidate for this opportunity.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND US YOUR REELS, TREATMENTS, SCRIPTS, OR OTHER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY -- SIMPLY SEND US ONLY WHAT WE REQUEST ABOVE. THANKS.

If you have already made your payment for the event in question and would like to be considered for this unique opportunity, you may send us your information, before the prepaid reservation deadline. Our Women Helping Women™/LAFTV team will review the submissions and decide upon the lucky candidate(s). The winner(s) will be announced at the event. We will provide the "winner(s)" with contact information for the guest speaker or panelist at the event, but winners will be responsible for following-up and scheduling their private meetings.

Due to the volume of submissions, we are NOT ABLE TO OFFER FEEDBACK on individual submissions, before, during or after the event.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Please EMAIL the required materials by the deadline.

Please PASTE the materials within the BODY of the email (SORRY, WE WILL NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS):

WHAT WE ASK IN RETURN:

The only thing we ask in return for this valuable opportunity we are providing is, after you’ve met with the Women Helping Women™ guest speaker or panelist, to send us feedback (in the form of a note/letter/email), within one week of your meeting…and kindly keep us updated as to any further developments.

BEST WISHES!
